Switch a Polycom handset from Lync/Skype mode to SIP

1.         Purpose

The purpose of this document is to define how to change the Polycom VVX 101, 201, 300, 301, 311, 400, 401, 410, 411, 500, 501, 600 & 601 model telephones to the Open Standards SIP provisioning setup. This is required before provisioning any Polycom VVX phone that is currently in the incorrect configuration.



2.         Scope

This document provides the approved procedure changing the boot configuration of Polycom VVX phones, if the phone is currently in Lync mode this must be completed before any provisioning can occur on the phone.  



3.         Process

  • On the idle screen of the phone


  • Press and hold on the keypad the 1, 4 and 9 keys simultaneously


  • Once prompted for the password enter the default password 456 or the Broadsmart passcode 943465.


  • Switch from Lync to Generic to enter the SIP mode, the phone will reboot and returns in SIP mode.
