Setup a New Phone to an Existing Line

Logic - You have an existing extension/line that either doesn't have a phone assigned to it right now, or you would like to assign a different phone to the line. 

NOTE: If this is the first of this phone model you will have you MUST request it to be added by Broadsmart Support as there are other default settings that must be added per model that you will not have access to.



Step 1. Navigate to the user you want to update the phone for and select "Addresses"



Step 2. If an existing device is listed, select "None" and select "Apply" to remove the existing device from the line first.



Step 3. Select "Identity/Device Profile" and then select the drop down for the "Identity/Device Profile Name"

  • If this device has been used in your organization before find it in the drop down (usually listed by MAC ID of the device, or extension and MAC ID) and select "Apply". Plug in the phone and it should program itself to the new extension automatically. If it does not please see these guides on manually programming a Polycom VVX handset or a Yealink handset.
  • If this is the first time this device is being used in your organization select the "New Identity/Device Profile" option at the bottom of the list.



Step 4. Fill in the below information as requested and then select "Apply". Plug in the phone and it should program itself to the new extension automatically. If it does not please see these guides on manually programming a Polycom VVX handset or a Yealink handset.

  • New Identity/Device Profile Name: Enter the MAC ID of the device being added
  • Identity/Device Profile Type: Select the model of the device being added
  • Host Name/IP Address: Leave blank
  • MAC Address: Enter the MAC ID of the device being added
  • Line/Port: Enter the user ID for this line (top of the page, numbers only)
